This is not the greatest of metal albums by any stretch but it always makes me smile when I put it on. Piledriver Metal Inquisition was released in 1984 and despite the corny album cover managed to amass quite the cult following. The record is now quite sought after by collectors. The Canadian band was never something to take too seriously (by their own admission)<\/i> but they do write some catchy riffs with some loud and proud metal lyrics the way that can only be come from the 80s.<\/p>\n\n
The album starts off with their most well known track “Metal Inquisition” … great riffage and I for one really love vocalist Gord Kirchin’s vocals as they hammer home the message of heavy metal. This is a really addictive song! Some great thrash guitars follow with “Sex with Satan” (this band have some great song titles haha)<\/i>. Dispite the humorous nature of the lyrics the riffage is on point, some of the best riffage ever laid down, proving the band doesn’t have to be overly technical to write some guitar passages that absolutely crush. <\/p>\n\n
It continues with “Sodomise the Dead”. I don’t know a lot about the band but at this point one would have to assume the band are heavily influenced by Venom<\/a> with some touches of Judas Priest<\/a> in there. “Witch Hunt” is a lot of fun with a great vocal passage where the Gordy takes on the role of an inquisitor. <\/p>\n\n Overall this is a great cult listen. The riffage is brilliant like an instant candy hit. Gordys’ (The Piledriver himself)<\/i> vocals just fit this stuff perfectly. The fact they don’t take this this too seriously makes this a really fun listen. I don’t know what your chances of buying this record are now but if you can definitely give this a listen on you tube.
