Here’s a band that I stumbled onto by accident, and what a pleasant surprise it was too! I knew nothing about this band before but hey, If Metal Blade Records signed them, they must have something going for them. Within a second or two of listening to Lik Necro, it becomes obvious we’re in for a wild ride of “Entombed”, \n“Dismember” and “At the Gates” inspired death metal. They’ve nailed that Swedish Death Metal guitar tone rather well I have to say!<\/p>\n\n
Upon further research, it turns out the lads actually are Swedish and (as is quite obvious)<\/i> grew up on a diet of their Swedish death metal heroes and have sought to keep the tradition going. I have to say they’ve done a magnificent job too! In real terms this is probably better than the first Entombed or At the Gates records as they’ve taken the best aspects of both bands and combined them seamlessly with some tasteful guitar solos, some great song writing and crushing riffs. I will go so far as to say this has lifed the bar as far as the bands hero’s go, they better look out as theirs a new threat to the throne!<\/p>\n\n
Lyrically the band are focused on a more horror, death theme with songs about zombies, disembowelments and such, the usual death metal fare. But really? Would we want it any other way? From the first minute or so I was sold on this to the point where there was almost no need to listen to the rest of the record, but of course if you are a fan of early 90s death metal there’s pretty much no way you could turn this off once started!<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
