Twisted Sister Under the Blade is one hell of a debut. Released in 1982, a fair few years after the bands formation in 1975, it was a long time coming. I guess if nothing else it meant the band was quite well developed in their style and technique by the time this thing came out.
The album opens up in fine form the well heavy “What you don’t know (Sure can hurt you)”. Great guitar tones, heavier than most things around at the time, and very well recorded. This would have been a great punch in the face for anyone buying it at the time. The next song “Bad boys (of rock and roll)” I found to be a bit out of place, but that’s cool, they hit it out of the park with the next songs “Run for your life” and “Sin after Sin” so far this a great heavy metal record, it’s fun, it’s heavy and sounds great. The album continues in fine form with “Destroyer” and “Under the Blade” which went on to become long time staples of the bands’ set.
Dee Sniders voice had had years of belting it out in bars around the country and is already magnificent on their debut. Again, this is a great first record, the band is well rehearsed there’s some killer riffage on display the drummer does a fine job. The drum sound is excellent btw. This is a well produced album for a first time. There’s some songs that are better than others but over all its a banger!
