Twisted Sister You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll

Well its time for these lads to come back with a sophmore album and TWISTED SISTER You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll was just the ticket! The album opens with a great crunch guitar riff which really means business from the start and once it all kicks in with Dee Sniders amazing voice over the top of proceedings you know you’re in for one hell of a wild ride! “The Kids are back” is the perfect way to open up proceedings and confirm their place in the Heavy Metal scene. The second track “Knife in the Back” is pretty cool too but once we get into the meat of the album but the third song “Live to Ride, Ride to Live” is a cracker! Twisted Sister obviously have their sugar hit songs, the big ones that we all remember but this is a definite unsung classic right here. Great riffage and a killer chorus that just sticks in your head.

One thing that makes Twisted Sister great in my opinion is their ability to write absolute ear-worms. Songs that burrow into your brain and stick there. Great choruses, riffs that just grab you instantly and shake you by collar. Their songs are nowhere near near as technical as say Ozzy or Dio but man, they get in your head.

Just as I’ve said that, there’s the closest thing to a forgettable track “I’m Me” but thankfully it picks up again with “The Power and the Glory” and “We’re Gonna Make it” really give it some gas and picks the album up again. There’s the obligatory power ballad with “You’re not alone“. It’s actually a pretty cool song, but with this and the previously mentioned “I’m Me” it means the energy levels fell over a bit on the second half of this album but to be fair the songs are good so we can let that pass. Last up is the Album closer and title track “You Can’t Stop Rock ‘n’ Roll” which is a dead set classic way to finish off the album.

I really think with this one Twisted Sister proved their initial success wasn’t just a fluke and and really set themselves up for some big things with album. Definitely a Classic metal album of the 1980’s, and a worthy addition to any metalhed’s collection.
