Destruction Sentence of Death

DESTRUCTION Sentence of Death like much of the thrash metal scene from Germany at the time shows an early version of this band. For my money it sits well along side the early efforts from Sodom etc… but is a little more developed as both as musicians and the sound quality they were able to achieve this early on in the game compared to Sodom and others. Released in 1984 this follows hot on the heels of the early American trash scene. For my ears it definitely seems to be influenced by Slayer, Venom and Metallica but taken to a new level of aggression.

This EP is short and sweet sitting at around 20 mins. It’s great intro to the band and is basically straight up thrash. Also, I think it’s one of the more developed in style as well as it is still fairly representativere of the bands style now days. There’s some pretty cool guitar solos though out this, and even a melodic interlude. Like many other debut releases the sound is a little on the rough side, but there’s certainly been a lot worse than this get released and launch some very successful bands.

Over all this is a great introduction to the band that would develop into one of the leading thrash bands from Europe
